Awesome posts - you are smart to get this information working for you now, as early as possible. If you haven't checked out David Bach's book The Automatic Millionaire, you might enjoy it.

I love your blog. I was wondering, though, what type of account can give you earnings of 12% interest?

Jennifer,
Great post. I have been trying for long to persuade myself to open a savings account. But all in vain. Now I have to try again and finally act.

Just found your blog today, pretty nice!

One comment about the "filthy-rich gloating millionaire" -- by the time that 25 year old is 65, a million dollars will not be worth a million dollars! So while they will certainly have a nice amount of savings, I wouldn't consider them to be filthy-rich.

...Or you could take the money that would sit for all those years and instead buy something you KNOW you stand to make a profit on. Use the intial balance plus the new profit margin and repeat with a bigger purchase.

People do this everyday on websites like ebay, your regular newspaper classifieds, etc. and make very often times 1000% on their cash investments.

From doing that myself - it just doesn't make sense these days to let money wait on interest to compound when you can make MORE money with money faster than the banks!
