I am chiming in veerrryyyy late (just found your blog on studentbloggers.org), but I wanted to add using hair conditioner for shaving your legs. I used to hate how shaving creams and gels dried out my legs. Conditioner sure doesn't! And you can use as inexpensive a conditioner as you want.

Try 2 parts brown sugar (usually 1 cup for full body), 1 part virgin olive oil, and a squeeze of a grapefruit slice for a great exfoliator, especially around your elbow (scaly in the winter) and everywhere else. makes u feel yummy afterwards

Adding a bit of corn flour to the honey before applying as a mask gives you a great exfoliating scrub to boot (the super fine stuff (aka. masa harina- check a Mexican grocery), not the coarse dry polenta or you'll tear up your skin!).

A cheap toner: witch hazel, sold generically in drugstores as a soother for insect bites/minor cuts and scrapes. Put a little on a cotton ball and wipe over face to tighten pores. Essential oils can also be added to make it smell a little more palatable (although they're not the most accessible products for those on the broke-ass budget!)

Thanks so much for these tips! I've been desperate for cheap and easy ways to maintain myself, and I found them all on this page!
BTW, I like using chapstic on crazed eyebrow days, it's a little thicker, so it stays on longer than vaseline and is just as effective.
Also, I sometimes get unexplainable dry spots on random areas of my skin (for example, I'm battling a tough one just below my shoulder), and I combat it by coating them with Hydrocortisone 1% cream once or twice a day. It practically reverses the effect and leaves skin feeling ultra smooth.

I love being able to take one of my products and using it in other ways. Making them multi-use. One example: Facial cleaner for legs.
If you get razor burns or anything similar- use your facial cleaner on your legs. You have the same skin on your legs as you do on your face. You're face just gets more clogged with products, and dirt. So you won't even need as much on your legs. It clears up the skin quickly and it helps keep your legs smooth and clear.
Vaseline for eyebrows: Even when well groomed, eyebrows can get hectic, so with just the slightest amount of vasilne you can easily smooth out those unruly eyebrows.
Vaseline also makes a simple body scrub. Combine Vaseline with just basic bath salts and you get your basic body scrub.

I like these tips! One I like to use is salt mixed with oil (baby, olive, whatever you like). I mix it in a bowl and apply it in the shower, scrub it into skin to remove dead cells and rinse. Your skin will feel soft and moisturized. It's a scrub like you would buy at the store, but cheaper and typically around your house!
